Boat burning - Sheringham Viking Festival
Boat Burning - Sheringham Viking Festival

This wonderful FREE annual event celebrates the history of the town and its Viking links. The event includes a Viking village, a re-enactment of battles, a parade and the burning of a boat, built for the occasion.

Here is a Vlog by Gareth Gabriel of the 2024 Viking Festival to give you an idea.

Sheringham Viking Festival, supported by Wuffa Re-enactment Society
Sheringham Viking Festival

In the past this event has been supported by The Wuffa and Saxon Re-enactment Society, and I am sure it will again in 2026. Sheringham Viking Festival is run by Sheringham Carnival. It's free of charge to attend, but donations are welcome to help fund the event continuing in the future. click here

Previous year plans to give you an idea of what to expect, subject to changes,

There are plenty of choices for eating in Sheringham; booking is advisable if you are not having a takeaway.

Viking Village - located on Beeston Common, no immediate parking on site, so use public car parks and access on foot is essential, unless you're not too late and book accommodation at Tree Top View Sheringham as it's only 3 minutes on foot and you may even be able to see the village from the lounge.

Suitable footwear is suggested as it can be boggy, subject to weather conditions

What else to do in the seaside town of Sheringham, North Norfolk: Plenty of shops, many independent, a large variety of independent places to eat. Several museums: Sheringham Museum, Peter Cooke Shell Gallery & Fisherman's Lifeboat Museum, the popular North Norfolk Railway a steam and diesel line that runs to Holt from Sheringham and of course the promenade and beach. See the tide timetable, sand is available approximately 2 hours either side of low and high tide. So plenty to do whilst you are in Sheringham.
